As an independent artist if you don’t believe the information on this site. Maybe a multi million dollar company will convince you. Warner Music Group now wants a percentage of the artists event tickets, merchandising and endorsements. Artist beware! Though considered a experimental a year ago these deals (named 360 deals) will Jim Crow your assets (figuratively and realistically) into slavery.
The recording industry is evolving into a free music model and the more unique and digital you make your product line the better.
This would be a good time to mention what the word “intellectual” means.
According to Dictionary.com it means:
“An extremely rational person; a person who relies on intellect rather than on emotions or feelings”
Ignorance with Intellect occurs when you foolishly think that the shiny things (fame, up front money, major radio and TV airplay) are worth signing away your brand.
So what are you going to do? Are you going to let them control you and feed into your talent? Or are you going to DO SOMETHING about it?
